Rachel was finally coming home, after three years she was returning to La Push. Not exactly the place she wanted to be and for a good reason. Her mother had died there when she was younger, it left a very big hole in Rachel’s heart and made it hard to be in a place that reminded her so much of her mother both of her alive and her death. To make matters worse, her father was now confined to a wheelchair because of diabetes making it much more difficult for him to get around. It was hard to watch him suffer in such a way, especially since he had once been able to walk. However he seemed to be taking it in stride, doing the best he can with what he’s got and she knew her younger brother took care of him.
Rachel had graduated from college early, and while she was happy about that it meant she had to go home for a bit. The reason behind that being that she didn’t have a place to live just yet, or a job. Both of which she was going to find as soon as possible. It had been a long drive from Washington State University to La Push, it was around 8 hours or so and Rachel had taken the least amount of breaks as she could. She had left at 8 in the morning and was finally coming up to Ocean Front Drive. Her plan, once catching up with her father and younger brother a bit was to take a nap, she really needed it. It seemed like the coffee wasn’t working like it should be for her.
Finally after driving another 13 miles she could see her house in the distance, it felt very weird to be back and apparently it was odd for other people to see her back as a few people were walking around and slowed down when they saw Rachel Black driving along. She waved awkwardly to the few people that were out and staring at her, hoping that would stop them. Finally pulling up into the small red house, Rachel made sure not to be blocking the rabbit that was in the make shift driveway. It took her a moment to realize who’s car this was, Jake had told her he had been working on it but she forgot it was done. It looked nice. Cutting the engine she sat in her car, hands still on the steering wheel. Rachel wanted to just leave, to get away from here but it was too late. Sighing she ran her hands over her face before reaching behind her and getting her duffel bag. She still had a few more things to get out of the car but she figured she’d just make a few trips. Opening the car door she stepped out and slung the strap of the duffel bag over her shoulder, closed the driver’s door and headed up to the front door of her house. She almost knocked on it, not used to being here anymore but finally just opened the door, not surprised that it was unlocked. “Hello?” Rachel asked as she looked around. “Dad? Jake? I’m home.” She called out as she let her duffel bag fall to the floor with a thud.

The good thing about Jacob, to the pack anyway, was that he was always ready to go. He basically had no life so he was convenient when somebody wanted to go somewhere and needed someone to take their shift. Jake was always up to it and sometimes he felt like he was being used but it was a welcome relief from being at home or something. Jake was just convenient to everybody and he got used quite often though Sam didn't like it a whole lot that he was always out running around as a wolf, exhausting himself fully. Jake obviously didn't care because he was always out. It was better than being at home. It was better than feeling frustrated that he couldn't kill the coven that wasn't too far from here that was about to take a human life. It was frustrating to Jacob, that as a pack, they were not taking down the coven that was about to take a human life and the pack knew it. How was the pack any good if they weren't preventing human loss? How were they doing any good to exist if they weren't going to take down vampires? Jacob was persistent on this subject but Sam thought it was only because Jake cared so much about Bells herself. Maybe the alpha was correct but how did that make a difference? It seemed that Sam was more worried about other people rather than the people that the pack cared about most. Jake knew that Sam would put the pack in danger for Emily, why wouldn't he do it for Bells? Because he didn't care too much about Bells but that didn't matter to Jake. Jacob cared about her and it was frustrating that Sam understood but wouldn't help Jacob Ephraim Black with his frustration.
The other thought that made Jake's blood boil was the newly adopted Cullen member. She was a newborn and dangerous for Bells to even be around. Jacob wasn't used to her scent so he'd hunted her down a couple of times, not that he would've minded tearing her apart. He could easily kill her because she was so young but the problem was, Sam had added her to the no-kill list. Jake seriously hoped that she would slip because then he'd have something to do. It seemed that the treaty should be null because they were intending to take a human life. How would they be protecting human life if they were letting the bloodsuckers turn Bells and then starting a war with them? That wasn't protecting it, that was taking revenge after the deed was done. It just fully frustrated this wolf boy and he knew that he could take over the pack but he didn't want to do that. He'd just have to deal with the rules unless he could find a way around them. If Jacob couldn't find a way around them, nobody would be able to, because Jake was the master of getting around them. Patrol was over for him being alone but since Jake had signed up for double shifts, his new patrol would start with Seth but Sam had told him Jake didn't have to actually patrol; in fact, Sam had told Jake that he'd rather Jake just get some sleep. Jacob went human and put some shorts and a sleeveless shirt on so that he wasn't walking around La Push without a shirt, not that he minded doing that. Some of the people on the reservation didn't particularly like Jake running around without a shirt so Jake was wearing one today.... Not that he cared what people thought anymore. He was protecting them from possible attack so he also figured that he deserved some peace....But they didn't know that.
Jacob jogged home and found somebody he didn't recognize....At all. His eyebrows furrowed and he jogged up to the door where she stood. He suddenly had a "lightbulb" flash in his head and figured it was Rachel. He'd heard that she was coming home after three years of being gone. Jake had changed a lot in the last three years. He was sleep deprived and he was huge in comparison to Billy. Billy had never been a wolf and, thus, had never gained the size Jacob Black had. Jake's eyes looked down at Rachel because he was at least a foot taller than her if not more so. The sad thing was, Jake was still growing, and would always grow because of his bloodline and the fact that he was supposed to be alpha. He was taller than Sam by now and a lot more muscular. Jacob was the biggest kid on the reservation and Forks too. "Hey Rachel." He followed her inside and asked, "How long you planning on staying this time?"

It felt very odd, being back in La Push. It was a bit colder than it had been back at Washington State since they pretty much lived on the beach here, but thankfully there wasn’t too much of a difference. The smell of the beach was practically the only thing that calmed her done, she loved the smell of the ocean water, as gross and odd as that may sound to some people. For whatever reason when she was at the beach, breathing in the ocean air, it just calmed her and made it easier to think. Rachel got the feeling she’d be spending a lot of her time there. Heck, she’d be spending most of her time anywhere but in the house.
Her heart was pounding in her chest as she entered her childhood home. Bracing herself to see her father again as well as her brother. She didn’t like seeing her father confined to a wheelchair, it broke her heart anytime she saw him wheeling himself around in it. Knowing he once had legs that actually worked. Rachel could only imagine how frustrating it must be.
Thinking she had heard someone behind her, Rachel tensed up for a moment not thinking Jacob or her father would be outside. It definitely couldn’t be her father as she had clearly heard footsteps. Holding her breath she turned around and instead of coming face to face anyone, she came face to chest with some guy and then she finally looked up and saw a face. Her eyes went wide and her jaw dropped. It was her brother. Since when had he grown up? And he cut his hair too?! Man, she really had missed out on a lot apparently. Great just what she needed., another reason to feel guilty. “Jacob?” Rachel managed to get out, her voice rather quiet as she takes in how big Jake had gotten. He was easily over 6’0. Even Billy wasn’t that tall. “You got tall and you cut your hair?” She hadn’t expected him to cut his hair, but it looked alright on him. She probably would’ve ruffled it up if she could actually reach it. At his question, guilt racked through her again. “I don’t know.” She admited with a sigh, “Just till I find my own place probably.” A look of guilt crossed her features as she looks back up at his brother before following him into the house more. It was small and cluttered. At least something hadn’t changed around here. “You look exhausted Jake.” Rachel realized with a frown on her features as she looks at his face.

Jacob was slightly jealous of Rachel because she had been able to get out of La Push, Washington. He wanted to get out and not look back. He wanted to be able to do that because it'd make his life easier. It was something he'd been contemplating for a while, not in wolf form of course. He couldn't let the pack know that he was deciding whether he was just going to turn his back on La Push and just....Leave and never come back. It'd be easy other than the fact he didn't have the heart to hurt Bella like that. He wanted to savor the moments that she was still human but at the same time, he couldn't handle seeing her and knowing that she could go bloodsucker on him any day now.
Jacob realized that his older sister was so much smaller than him now which was kind of odd to him. She'd always been taller than him but now he was a monster compared to her. Standing at almost seven feet by now. He was the biggest guy locally and he knew if he stayed wolf forever, he'd someday be the tallest guy in probably the world. That idea was interesting.
Jacob Ephraim Black grinned at Rachel's surprised face and looked down to see her face. He was still adjusting to the fact that he was a beast compared to his older sister. People would now think Jake was the oldest even though he was the youngest. He realized that Rachel looked a whole lot like Sarah, Jacob's mother. It made him feel slightly awkward even though it shouldn't have. He barely remembered his mother even though he remembered her face and remembered that she had never followed him and his father out of the hospital doors. Jake had been fine, Billy had lost the use of his legs, and Sarah had lost her life, all with one simple car crash. It sucked but that was the way the world worked. "That's me." He grinned down at her again. He was slightly amused that she seemed so surprised. Most people by now had long since gotten used to it. "Almost seven feet and yeah, I cut my hair. It's easier to deal with." There was no telling of secrets especially Rachel. Knowing her, she'd really just freak out. So Jacob would keep the information to himself. He smiled down at her, reassuring her. He could see the guilt on her face, it wasn't hard to find and he had practice with other people all the time. People were always trying to hide their emotions, especially Bella, and he was always able to find their real emotions. Bella wasn't exactly difficult though. "It's no sweat. How ya been?" He was trying to get her to not think about her guilt. He hated dealing with guilt because he already had plenty.
