» OVERALL PERSONALITY: Edward is a hard character to pin down. He is often described as broody and stubborn, but he is also very kind and compassionate. He cares for other feelings and tries to do what is best by them in every situation, no matter the cost to himself. Edward could also be described as charming and polite, keeping some of the mindset and outdated speech from his human life. He uses this charm, as well as his unnatural beauty, to persuade others for favours and to do his bidding, but only if he has cause to.

Despite all these good points, Edward is also very stubborn, extremely so. Once he gets an idea or an opinion in his head then it is very hard to remove it or to change his mind. He regards Bella’s safety, humanity and welfare with the utmost importance, doing anything within his power to ensure that she remains safe and whole, her heart beating healthily. This never ending drive to protect her often causes him to over analyse a situation in his over-active mind. This usually also leads to an overreaction, especially when it involves Bella’s safety.

Edward is intelligent and well read. He speaks many languages, can play the piano with practiced ease and has read many, many books.

» HISTORY: Edward was born on June 20, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois to Edward Masen, Sr and Elizabeth Masen. He had a very old-fashioned upbringing, learning that he should find a well paid job, become a respectable man, and marry a good woman. When the first Wolf War began Edward instantly wanted to enlist, however he could not due to his age and his unwavering love for his mother.

Life was easy for a few more years, until 1918 when the Spanish Influenza hit. His father was killed during the first wave with Edward and his mother falling ill soon after. Before she died, Elizabeth begged their attending doctor, one Dr. Carlisle Cullen, to do everything within his power to save her son. After her death, Edward was left an orphan and dying himself. Following through on the promise that he made to Edward’s mother, he took the dying boy to his house and changed him into a vampire.

Edward adapted to his new life with the man who changed him and who he came to view a Father. Later on, Esme was added to their family, someone he quickly viewed as a Mother. His happiness at having his new family was short lived, however. Edward began to become withdrawn, finding it ever-increasingly hard to ignore the vulgar, cruel and downright evil thoughts of the humans he was surrounded by. He left Carlisle and Esme in 1928, using his mind reading abilities to only drink from the worst of society, believing that his feeding was moral as long as he was serving justice onto those that deserved it. He soon regretted his choice and returned to his family, returning to the life feeding from animals.

Over the next 80 years, Carlisle also turned others who he found near-death. Rosalie and Emmet joined their small family, mating in the process. Eventually Alice and Jasper ‘found’ them and merged into their family as if they had always been there. Life was easy, travelling from town to town as needed, until a return trip to Forks. There, Edward met his soul-mate Bella. The next few years were exceedingly rocky. She has almost died several times, and all of them Edward blames himself for. First James, then the Volturi due to his foolishness at leaving, and most recently from Victoria, James mate come looking for revenge.

Despite having kept her safe and avoided danger at all costs, Bella is still determined to become a vampire, something he is whole-heartedly against. The only positive of the situation is that Edward has finally gotten his own way in one matter; Bella, his lovely Bella who he plans on loving for eternity and longer, has agreed to marry him.

The light was just fading behind the horizon, bathing the ground in a soft glow and announcing to the world that it was time to slow the pace and begin settling in for the night. Most people instinctively listened to this wordless call, but the creature that stepped out of a small cottage in the woods wasn't most people.

Edward gently shut the door behind him, not wanting to make lots of noise as Renesmee had drifted off in her room, art equipment scattered everywhere. He smiled an affectionate smile just thinking about his and Bella's daughter. His life was finally complete, his family were happy and safe, and now he had his own small family, one that he never thought could exist, but still.

Looking out through the trees, his sensitive sight still allowing him to see every detail before him, he chose his destination and began to run. His feet barely touched the ground as he flew through the forest, breathing steady and even. While this had gotten some getting use to when he was a newborn, after a century of life he'd grown to love the feeling. The wind snapping his clothes and running through his hair, the small creatures that he passed becoming silent and trying to become invisible, the way everything seemed to smell sweeter when it was pushed into his nose at a great speed. Yes, Edward loved to run.

Slowing down and eventually stopping, the vampire closed his eyes and inhaled deeply. The earthy moss floated into his inner eye as he smelled it, along with the resin of the trees, the slight rot of damp leaves that had been left to fall where they might. And then he caught the smell of a herd of elk not far from him. Another deep inhale and he zoned in on the largest of the herd.

Crouching into his hunting stance, he suddenly heard the sound of light feet running towards him. Turning, but staying in his crouch, Edward listened out and looked through the gaps in the trees, trying to see who it was that was tracking him
