Bree blinked at the light that was streaming through the window of the Cullen’s living room. Well, it was hardly a living room, as no one really lived in it. Bree was sitting in the corner of the living room, tucked between the pale leather couch and the contrasting blue walls. It was easier keeping to herself, as she wasn’t completely comfortable living with the Cullens yet.
Carlisle and Esme were great. Both were so very kind, and helpful. They were teaching her the laws of the Vampires, and giving her shelter. Esme was like the mother that Bree never had, as her own mother abandoned her and her father when she was just a little girl. Carlisle was another father to her; just one that was kind, caring, and didn’t call her cruel insults and rude names.
Jasper and Rosalie were a whole nother story book page completely. Rosalie was a bit snobbish, keeping to herself mainly. She was an obvious queen bee, and was probably the most beautiful person in the world. If only Bree had been able to grow up a bit more before being turned into a blood-sucking monster.
Jasper just glared at Bree, acting as if she was going to be the cause of the apocalypse. He snubbed her, ignored her, and just plain treated her like dirt. He didn’t scare her, per se, but he didn’t give her visions of rainbows and pink fluffy unicorns. Jasper was somewhat moody, absorbing the emotions of those around him. Maybe it didn’t help that Bree was moping around and acting seemingly depressed.
Alice was an absolute sweetheart, always positive and buzzing around with a smile on her face. It was hard not to smile around Alice, her mood was infectious. In a good way, of course. She tried to make Bree happy, and she was welcoming and accepting of her unlike some of the other Cullens. Maybe because all vampires, except for dear old Carlisle, started out as a bloodthirsty newborn.
Emmett was a giant teddy. Somewhat alarming and scary on the outside, but sweet and caring on the inside. He literally was a giant teddy. Emmett loved to have fun, which usually involved wrestling or playing one of the video games from his extensive collection. Emmett didn’t get to wrestle much, as Esme usually didn’t approve. Bree supposed that the war between the newborns and the Cullen’s was a change for him.
Edward and Bella. Bree let out a sigh thinking of them. They were very cautious around Bree, and Bree was cautious around them. Edward was obviously deeply in love with Bella, always giving her whatever she wanted and caring for her every whim. Bella acted oddly around Bree. Maybe it was because that Bree could kill Bella if she wanted to, or that Bella knew, or should know, that there was a chance of her being bloodthirsty like Bree after her change.
Bree turned her attention back to the window. Birds were chirping, squirrels hopping from branch to branch, everything seemingly normal. She let out a smile at the blissful and serene peace of the outside world. If only she could step outside for a moment- no. Bree shook the thought from her head. It was dangerous, even with a Cullen with her.
Her attention was drawn to the lobby of the house, as someone was opening the door. She held her breath at the chance of it being Bella; Bree wanted to stay with the Cullens. Not be kicked out, or killed, for biting Bella. ’Bad Bree’ she thought. She probably made her mood worse by thinking about human blood. ”Hello?” Bree called in her high pitched voice.
