She was not always as beautiful as she is now. From fifth to eighth grade, she went to fat camp over summer and could not seem to lose any weight. She was taunted relentlessly for it everyday. She became anorexic and ended up finally shedding the weight. That is were her cocky personality comes from, the teasing hurt her so much and it seems as though she has become the girls that used to taunt her. However, deep down she is still that same overweight, sensitive child although she may not look it on the outside. She tries not to show people this side of her because, in the past, she has just been taken advantage of. So she keeps her hard exterior.

» HISTORY: Camille was born on April 3, 1988 to Daniel and Jennifer Kingston. She was the type of unplanned pregnancy that her parents were never proud of. No matter what she did, she was never good enough to fully get their attention. Drugs were what always got their attention. Living in Los Angeles, the pressure of drugs was everywhere and for Camille, it was ever at home. However, Camille turned to food for her comfort. She was constantly eating, whether she was hungry or not. If she ate, it seemed like her problems disappeared for a little while.

That was why her parents sent her to fat camp every summer from fifth to eighth grade, not because they were concerned about her health or all the bullying she went through though. They sent her to fat camp because they were tired of having to buy so much food and tired of having the “fat kid.” Camille worked and tried her hardest each of those summers, however, every time she came home she would just end up gaining weight back. Finally when she entered ninth grade she got tired of it and became anorexic.

Finally, she felt like she was the daughter that her parents could be proud of, and she was proud of herself. She looked great and she knew she did. She became popular and although the anorexia was slightly affecting her health, she ignored it and loved her life. However, about half a year later, both of her parents were busted and sent to jail for drug possession. Her life was flipped upside down and she was sent to live with her grandmother in La Push.

Her grandmother, fully aware of everything she has been through and her anorexia, has vowed to change Camille and refuses to let her move back to Los Angeles. With help from her grandmother and a secret therapist she goes to in Seattle, she has overcome her anorexia and her former insecurities. Now she is the cocky, hard to get girl that knows she is beautiful and flaunts it. However, for the very few people she lets into her life, they begin to see the real her and how she is not as self absorbed and cocky as they have previously though.

She was pushed up against a wall, there was nowhere she could run. It was the dead of night, there was no one to hear her scream. Kayla could almost already feel the sting of the fangs as the vampire lunged towards her. However, the sting never came. Rather than bite into her neck, Jonathan had stopped and was hovering his mouth right above her neck. Torturing her. She could feel herself shaking with fear. That needed to stop right now. They had been able to be friends for this long, why would things suddenly change now. However, a few weeks ago he had gone off of his strictly animals diet and now became the crazy, bloodsucking monster that writers depicted in movies and books.

She watched as he back away slowly, turning as if he were about to leave before slamming his fist into the wall next to her. She could feel the shock and fear on her face. She quickly shook it off as he leaned in closer and whispered into her ear. “You have no idea how much I want to kill you right now.” She had known when she had come out tonight that he had not fed in a while, she should have known this was going to happen. She collected herself just long enough to respond, three simple words that they both knew were true. “But you won’t.” If he wanted to kill her, he would have done it the first time, when he had lunged at her. Or even now. He had the perfect opportunity, yet he hadn’t taken it. They both knew why. Jonathan loved her. Contrary to popular belief that monsters were incapable of loving, Kayla knew it wasn’t true. She knew Jonathan loved her. Maybe that’s why she had come out tonight.
