» OVERALL PERSONALITY:Edward is very old-fashioned type of person, therefore he is automatically a gentleman. He's the type of guy to hold open a door for a girl, always escort her to the door, and pull out her chair for her. Speaking like he is from another century, which we all know that, indeed, he is, seems to give him even more of a polite factor. Edward is the overly protective type, with it being both instinct and just hating the fact of watching someone he loves get hurt. Especially when he knows for a fact that he would have been, or is still, able to do something about it. Edward at many times can come off as sort of arrogant, knowing it at the same time, but doesn't act like he notices as long as he gets his point across. He doesn't seem to confide in many people, mainly because he knows that no one will be able to understand him as a person and, mainly, his motives. Being a very reserved kind of person he keeps to himself half of the time, tending to come off as a 'loner'. Which he would never admit to being.
Edward is a pessimist, always has been, and expects the worse out of all situations no matter how well it starts off. No worries, Edward has his fairly lovable sides to him too. That being said I'd like to say first that he his a hopeless romantic; like fresh off of a soap opera. Once he falls for you, it's forever, and in his and Bella's case 'eternity'. He believes in being her knight in shining armor, even though he knows that he is not perfect in any way and still considers himself a murderer of her human life. Another very likable side about this vampire is that he is usually a very calm and serene kind of guy. When he does get angry though, he doesn't claim to be afraid to show it. When Bella was still human he constantly feared losing his self-control, especially around Bella. Now though, he doesn't have to worry nearly as much because she is like him and he knows that she can take care of herself. Though he loves that fact that Bella has now joined him, Edward has a appreciation for human life and does not enjoy killing humans. He still can't help but hate the fact that he 'ruined' her life.

» HISTORY:Edward Anthony Mason was born a scorching hot summer's day on June 20th, 1901. In the city of Chicago, Illinois, though he can't remember much of his past history now, I can tell you that he lived a slightly old-fashioned life style. His mother, Elizabeth, and father, Edward Sr., were always making sure to work at their best ability, giving him what they thought he deserved, but never strayed away from teaching him what was right and how to use proper manners. As a child little Edward was completely different from what you see in him now. He hadn't gone through all the pain and suffering yet, hadn't witnessed his life, and the lives of ones he loved, on the line of danger over, and over, and over again. No, as a child he was all smiles; a 'fairly joyful child' as his parents liked to put it. Whenever the small, loving family took a trip into the newer part of town they always allowed their son to pick something from any of the stores. When Edward was around four years old, he discovered his love for a certain fruit; apples. Instead of picking up a wooden car like every other little boy wanted, he would waltz into the market, grab a shiny apple, and take a big bite. All through his childhood he was known to be a rather goodhearted, and healthy little boy.
As Edward got older, he got the chance to attend school and do many other things. They taught him how to read, write, and use arithmetic. Though grades weren't as strict back then as they are now, the 'pre-teen' was very serious about his schoolwork and always made sure that he had everything he had to do done before he went out to play with friends. Something that obviously hasn't changed to this very day and time. In school he also learned about the history of his country, America, and about all the serious things that had happened in it so far. Knowing that there would soon be another war, his teacher warned him and the class, this only made him want to start learning about the many ways of the army. Though the army, still quite a new structure when he was just a mere child, only enrolled those at the age of eighteen, Edward was already hooked to wanting to join. He couldn't wait to grow up and become a hero for his beloved country. All the while Edward was also learning out to play the piano. A new concept to the United States then he didn't really get into it much, but new that he would be able to use it for good someday.
Around the time of of his seventeenth birthday, though, the Spanish Influenza spread around the United States like the plague it was. For awhile, the Masen's were completely fine and it seemed like maybe, just maybe they would get past catching what was spreading around. All around the three family members, people that they were close to started dying off from the flu, and when they found out that their close neighbor had it, that was it. The small family had nowhere, and not nearly enough time to try and run from the disease. When Edward's father was diagnosed and eventually dead a couple of days later, he couldn't help but think that that was it, there was no way that him and his mother would survive. Edward and Elizabeth would soon have what his father had taken from everyone else, and they would be gone just as soon as he had been. Just a day after his father's death, Edward and his mother started showing symptoms and were immediately rushed to the hospital, where Edward would soon be finding himself in a little twist of fate.
One of the very last things Edward can remember from his human life were his mother's last words as he lie next to her in a tiny hospital bed; he would cherish them forever. "You must do everything in your power. What others cannot do - that is what you must do for my Edward, for my son." These words were spoken, softly, in strain, out of her mouth right before she died right next to him, and they were spoken to none other than Carlisle Cullen. Carlisle was one of the hospital's best doctors, he had heard around the town a while ago, and Edward was told by his mother that he could trust him with their lives. So why was his mother dead? And why...why was there so much pain?
The change. Apparently the most painful thing a vampire, that was slowly turning, could experience according to Carlisle; 'beside having your head snapped off or burning in flames' was they way he had put it. The change had definitely been a dreadful experience, but there was also the fact that he had to grasp being a vampire, an un-living, cold, creature, at the same time. That day when Edward woke up in the tiny hospital bed, feeling perfectly normal, but obviously hungry, he didn't know want to think until somebody did it for him. You'll be just fine, a voice in his head assured him. At first he thought he was going crazy, who wouldn't right? But when he looked to his side he saw Carlisle with a faint, yet kind, smile on his lips. "You'll be just fine," he said whenever Ed had looked at him. It was then discovered that Edward, unlike some other vampires, had a certain type of power that he would soon be able to control. When he finally got over shock of one, being alive, and two, being a vampire that could read other people's minds, Carlisle took Edward under his wing and showed him all the basic ropes; how to control his power, what he could do with his new body, and of course the vegetarian way of life. Edward became an adopted son towards the generous doctor almost immediately, and would live with him for the many years that he still had yet to see coming.
Not to long, but long enough, after Edward became comfortable to becoming Carlisle's new son and way of life, a mother joined the picture. Esme Cullen, yet another vampire that Carlisle had changed, made a very good impression on Edward. She was sweet, kind, and loving; everything that he had wanted in a woman those days. Almost just after Esme joined though, in 1928 Edward, being the naive boy he still was, ran away from the second life that was given to him, that led him to being a 'good person' as much as he could. When Edward was alone and out in the world by himself, he turned toward feeding on people instead of just animals. He hunted down 'the bad ones', criminals who had done terrible things, in thinking that as long as he were serving in some way with justice, it was meant to be served. Eventually Edward realized that he was wrong, what he was doing was wrong and regretted this declension. Immediately he ventured back to his family, once again taking in their way of life.
Over the next one hundred years or so, many more members joined the Cullen Family. Rosalie Hale, a beautiful blonde that had been intended to end up as Edward's mate, joined in just after Esme. Not knowing much about her past at first, Edward began to investigate. Living with her for awhile made him realize all the facts of what had happened to her, and how she was changed. It was horrible to even think something like that would happen to someone, but he found the part of her revenge hilarious. Later, Edward realized that he never felt anything more towards Rose than just sibling love, and was glad that eventually she found a mate that would suit her needs. Emmett Cullen, a boy Rose had found in the woods that had been badly torn apart by a bear, then joined in has Edward's brother, now that him and Rose were together and would be forever. They became very good friends, brother even, and were immediatly bonded with each other. About a century after Rose and Em, in came Alice Cullen and Jasper Hale. Alice had been an already made vampire who had came on a search for the Olympic Coven, having heard about Carlisle's way of vampire life and, on the way, brought Jasper with her. Together they created a family, that moved a lot, and Edward wouldn't have wanted it anyway different, beside the fact that he was alone. Soon that would end.
Having lived in Forks, Washington for three or so years, Edward attended yet another day of his 'senior' year at Forks High School. Another boring day of his millionth time getting his GPA certification. That day he would find the biggest change of his life in centuries. A new girl, Bella Swan, had moved town and was apparently the daughter of the towns sheriff that Carlisle had known pretty well. At first glance, Edward found himself interested in her, and not just because she was beautiful and seemed completely different than everyone else around him. It felt like the girl, this Bella, was holding a shield up to him to where he couldn't read her thoughts. This was the first time ever in his life of being a vampire that this had happened, and it frustrated him like it would anyone else who had his ability. That day he sat next to her in their biology class, immediately feeling some sort of pull towards her. Edward had to hold himself back from actually killing the girl in front of the entire class, and once the bell rang ended up running from the room.
Knowing that he would have to get all the animal blood that he possibly could in his system to even face her again, he went on a trip to visit the Denali's, cousins of the Cullens that lived in Alaska, and to hunt with his family. A week later Edward was able to return to Forks, and introduce himself to his future wife. Being the hopeless romantic that he his, I've been giving permission to say that it was 'love at first sight'. Eventually Edward got up the nerve to ask Bella out, somehow letting her find out that he is a vampire. Honestly, he had know clue how she did it. The only reason that he could think of was that she was as brilliant as he thought she was. After her finding out, he introduced her to the entire family, and they began dating. He had finally found something worth living for.
One evening, during a baseball game with the Olympic Coven, three unexpected, not so friendly, vampires showed up on their turf. These vampires names were James, Laurant, and Victoria. Having noticed that these vampires were soon going to hunt his beloved, Edward and his family came up with a plan to get her out of town. They were on the run for about a week, following directions from Alice's visions and what Edward could hear, to keep Bella, the human, safe. In the end Bella falls for a sad trick that gets her into some trouble; a bite from the vampire called James. If they had let the venom spread, Bella would be becoming Edward's final mate sooner than he planned; and he just wouldn't let that happen. This was the first time Edward was ever able to taste Bella's blood, though tainted with the venom from another vampire, as he sucked it out of her arm to counter the change. Edward couldn't let the one he loved become what he was, what he hated being.
Just a year after that, after Bella's eighteenth birthday, Edward did something very idiotic and rash. He left. For some reason he convinced himself that he didn't need her, that she would be safer without him, and that without him she would be better off. Not knowing that he left his love in tears and a state of odd, long, depression, he found out from Rosalie while away that Bella had committed suicide while jumping off of a cliff. This, losing the only reason for him to be physically living, drove him to do something even more mad than leaving forks. He tried to provoked the Volturi to kill him by stepping out in front of a bunch of citizen's to prove that he was a vampire, only to be saved by Bella herself, would obviously had not been dead, at just the right time. Giving him just another reason to love her. And as a promise to Bella, Edward was even able to thank the werewolf Jacob Black, Bella's best friend, for saving her life and watching over her while he was away.
A few months later Edward found himself constantly rejecting Bella's want to be a vampire more than usual. He eventually tells her the reason why he keeps saying 'no', and it's because he doesn't want to take away her life. It just didn't seem right. When he tells her this he begins to realize that he has competition for the girl her loves. Edward does everything in his power to keep keeping Bella safe, and to keep her at his side instead of Jacob Black's. Eventually, Edward gets up the guts to ask Bella to marry him. With this, he promises her that he will change her into a vampire after they are married, not really knowing that he would soon actually mean it.

Running his fingers on the cherry wood piano Edward nodded in reassurance to himself and, with almost no effort, gracefully sat down upon the rather wide piano stool. Lightly touching the ebony and ivory keys he pushed down with the most soft force 'humanly' possible to his nature, letting a chord run through the entire house. Lifting his fingers off the keys as the chord died he listened closely, just sitting there waiting for a certain person to arrive. Today the house was empty of all the Cullens who had gone out on a hunt without him. Knowing that he would be showing Bella the soft lullaby that he had written for her soon, and that he wanted to be alone with her when he did so, he had gone alone just last week. Hearing the door creak open, and then shut softly, and the beautiful call of his name Edward stood and rushed down the many stairs of the house, arriving right next to Bella's side. As always she took his breath away, even with her being drenched to the bone from the slowly falling rain outside. Swiftly picking her up off her feet he smiled down at her, and rushed them both right back up the stairs. He could do this, he knew that in some way he had to show her his undying love.
Carefully setting the girl he loved down into a chair, he walked over to his closet, pulled out a dry sweater, and brought it over to her. Draping it over the chair's arm he motioned to it and turned around, waiting for her to change. Personally, Edward didn't feel right watching Bella take off her shirt right in front of him. Not hearing her move for a few seconds, he chuckled. "I could leave the room if you want me too," he offered, slowly turning around, hand placed over his eyes, as he heard the chair sink in a little from a body's weight. Spacing out his fingers he peered down at Bella, letting his hand fall back to his side. She was already changed, and had done it without hesitation. For some reason that said something to him, said to his heart that she could do anything, even change, in front of him. That she trusted him. Smiling and nodding to her he walked over to the piano he had sat at just moments before and wiped it off as if something where on it.
Sitting down he patted the spot next to him, motioning for the human to take the place at his side. Not waiting for her to accompany him he raised his hands, curled his fingers of the keys, and began to play the only melody he had been able to play in the past few weeks. Playing the piano was the only way Edward got his emotions out, that and actually talking to someone who understood him. To him the piano was a way to tell someone how he felt through the sound of music. Every time he played, his fingers moving swiftly across the sea of black and white, he imagined himself in the perfect situation of the story he was trying to tell. In this case, he imagined Bella and him forever. Hanging his head over the piano, a loose hair falling down onto his face, he played the last few chords of the song and froze his entire body. Edward could know feel the presence of Bella next to him, could hear her study pulse and breath. Pulling his hands off the keys he peered through that one piece of hair over at the girl, the woman, that he loved. "Bella?" He whispered for her, searching her features for some kind of clue. Embracing her in a hug he kissed the top of her forehead, as she responded, knowing then that they would be together forever.
