edward was born with bronze hair, very much like his mother. it was always a bit unruly because he had so much of it. he never bothered to keep it groomed even though that was popular during the time he was growing up.after his change into a vampire his hair became bronze in color and just as unruly. it looks as if he is constantly running a hand through his hair.sometimes he varies the style but not by much, and usually only when alice forces him too.

» EYES:

when edward was born he had stunning emerald green eyes. they were his fathers eyes. after his change they were at first crimson as all newborn vampires are. they were crimson during his rebellious years as he fed on the blood of humans. as he embraced the ways of carlisle they took on a golden color. a sure sign that he wasn't a typical vampire. they would darken of course as he grew hungry but once that hunger was quenched they would once again return to their golden brown color. they are relatively evenly spaced and a tiny bit deep set. what sets his eyes out are the purple bruises that seem to form when he is hungry, a way to contrast the onyx of his pupils.

» HEIGHT/WEIGHT:

as a human edward was tall at six feet two inches. that much hasn't changed since his transformation. he's tall but not too tall for the others in his family. he weights only one hundred and sixty five pounds, or did as a human. not much has changed in his looks after he was turned. its easier to keep the same weight when you drink nothing but liquids and stop growing.

» STYLE:

edward doesn't have a distinct style. he tends to be seen in light colored clothing topped with a tan jacket. while he does choose what to put on everyday he doesn't really have much choice in what clothing he actually has. he doesn't shop, at least not much for himself clothing wise. he prefers the lighter colored clothing because it makes it easier to hide just how pale he really is. despite the fact that he doesn't feel the cold weather of forks he dresses like a normal human male to keep up appearances.

» BODY TYPE:

he is thin but not anorexic looking. edward has a bit of muscle on him but nothing too pronounced. he doesn't have emmett's muscle tone but he is happy with the way he looks. most of his body is hidden behind his clothing anyway. the lack of bulk he has aides in him being fast. as a human he was a bit chunkier than he is now but due to the ramifications of having influenza, he grew thin and pale. after his transformation he retained the thinness.

» DISTINGUISHING FEATURES:

there are several things about edward that are distinguishable.the first being his striking beauty, but that appears to be a curse for all vampires.his bronze hair sets him apart from the rest of his family and other vampires alike. his golden eyes, while the same as the rest of the cullens is another feature that sets him apart from humans. his long fingers are often seen twirling bottle caps around.

quiet is the first thing that most people see, after they get past the initial shock of his beauty. edward isn't overly studious but he does seem to know quite a bit, in part due to his history. he's broody and overprotective but refuses to change himself. like just about every human there is a side that edward shows a side to the world around him that isn't who he really is yet in a way it is. for nearly a hundred years edward has locked away the true desires and wants, has felt himself a monster and shunned away from too much human interaction.

the moment he met bella a long thought dead side of him came alive. a side that was passionate and romantic. in showing his love for bella, his constant need to ensure her safety is enough to drive anyone insane but it's the only way he knows to show his love and devotion. to anyone that observes him interacting with the brown haired girl its obvious their feelings for each other. for the first time edward is acting upon the human emotions he thought were long dead.

of course to the public his is a charming young man with impeccable manners. he acts and talks as if he is from another time. he is determined in his goals and almost always refuses to back down from the challenge. if anything he will rise to the occasion and show what he is truly capable of. its that stubbornness that allows people to misunderstand his actions. edward is a conundrum to himself the fact that he has been granted the gift of loving bella, yet at the same time he was such a monster that he didn't deserve that gift.

» HISTORY:

edward anthony mason jr was born june 20 1901 to elizabeth and edward mason sr. he would be their only child as is quite normal for families from that age. his birth city was the up and coming city of chicago ilinois. his family was old fashoned, and as such edward was raised to follow those traditions.

growing up he was influenced by the moods and attitudes of the time period. the one thing that stuck in his mind was a burning desire to join the military. he wanted to serve his country by fighting for it but he was too young and loved his mother too much to abandon her. with his father working it fell to him to be the man while the older man was away and abandoning his mother was not something he could handle.

at the age of seventeen things started going downhill for edward. an epidemic of influenza ran rampant through the city. for that very reason 1918 would forever be ingrained in his head and heart. his entire family ended up in the hospital dying without a hope in the world. it was there that he would meet dr carlisle cullen for the first time. as edward grew weaker from the disease and with the passing of his father his mother begged the young doctor to do what he must to save her son. the true reasons for why carlisle agreed are his own but he would go on to save edward from death by turning him into a vampire.

edward would be the first to join the family, soon followed by esme, the wife and mate of carlisle. for the first ten years of his new life he tried to follow the path that carlisle was on, of only drinking animal blood but after a while he couldn't handle it anymore. in 1928 he rebelled as many adolescents do. he would use the special ability that he had, to suss out the evils of society and feed upon them. he felt that he was serving a form of justice in the world. he couldn't be a monster by only attacking the evils of human society. it wouldnt' last though, the need to be rebellious.

edward went back into the family like the prodigal son. welcomed with with warm heart of esme and the polite smile of carlisle. he would quickly readjust to the vegetarian lifestyle . noting remarkable would happen again to the family until 1933 when carlisle changed and brought home a beautiful blonde girl named rosalie. at the time his family was living in rochester new york. edward was at first angered that carlisle would bring rosalie home in the hopes of her being his mate and wife. he could only love the beautiful woman as a sister.

in 1935 a mate would be found for rose, in the form of emmett mccarty. rose had been out running the forests near gatlinberg tennessee when she encountered the dark haired man being attacked by a bear. edward refuses to dive into why the man so attracted the blonde but he was happy to welcome a brother into the family. it was in this episode that he came to respect rose, in her ability to bring a dying emmett all the way to carlisle and not to give into the need for his blood.

for the next several years the cullens would travel across the continental united states and up to alaska.they were a happy family until two more joined them in 1948. with the addition of alice and jasper, edward now had two brothers and two sisters and in a way his family felt complete. he could see his siblings were paired off and once again he was alone. he didn't really mind it too much, alone allowed him time to hone his gifts. a small part of him wished that there could be someone for him.

for the next several decades the cullens would travel back and forth between forks, and denali alaska making friends with another vegitarian clan. the friendship of tanya, alicia, irina, carmen and eleazar would be one of the few things the young man would come to lean upon. he was content in his life but just only.

it wouldn't be until his family relocated to forks once more and that's when everything changed again. the quiet brooding edward would meet one bella swan and a connection would be formed. something about her blood called to him, her scent drove him mad with need. it was almost physically impossible for him not to shove her into a dark corner and drain her dry, yet at the same time for him to not touch her. she was making his thoughts and emotions fuzzy with just her being around. at first things were rocky, he was being stubborn with his adamant need to avoid her yet protect her from afar. that is at least until he gives up that notion. he would start dating bella, but still keeping himself at a distance from her. it wouldn't be until a group of nomadic crimson vampires came to town that he would be drawn closer. with the arrival of james, victoria and laraunt thing would change drastically.

edward would end that first year of knowing bella by saving her from a raving psychotic vampire set out to hunt her. it would be during their encounter that he would learn more about his sisters past. to him the only thing that mattered anymore was keeping his bella safe. at least that was the goal until her next birthday when a small papercut would lead jasper to almost attack her. it was after this that edward had to admit that his being around was more dangerous than anything. he would leave her alone and travel around europe for most of the year. or he would until a strange call from rose would lead him to believe his bella was dead. knowing he couldn't live without her edward sought to end his life. this would lead him to volturi italy.

he doesn't like talking about what happened but he managed to convince the volturi to allow him to leave with his bella. he swore to himself that nothing else would happen to her as long as he could prevent it. he would return with her to forks but the ramifications of what happened would plague him. things with bella were tense but he would get through it. he knew though that he had to turn her or face the wrath of the votluri only he wished he could buy a few more years. like everything in the world, everything seemed to be out of edwards control. he would convince bella to marry him, for it's what he longs for. but his happiness had to be put on hold due to the actions of victoria.

after the battle with the newborns things settled a bit for edward. he was able to convince bella to marry him but he had to make a few concessions. despite his desire to want to keep her human for as long as possible he had to make a few concessions.all he wants right now is to simply enjoy as much time with his bella as he can before their wedding.

Confusion. That was the warring emotion felt by Edward as he sat alone in his room and sulked for a moment. In his mind he was brooding, not sulking but to anyone watching it would look much the opposite. Being introspective had its moments, and its reasons. Confusion. Edward hated that feeling but there was no denying who it was that made him so confused. His head was telling him to be logical, to understand the situation that he had put himself in, while his heart was telling him to forget it and simply feel. Therein lay the problem. Could he feel? If you had asked him that two years ago, before he met Isabella Swan the answer would be no. He couldn't feel, he would have admitted to being an empty shell.

He had promised the Volturi that he would turn Bella but he wasn't ready. Maybe it was the fear that he held, not wanting to condemn her soul hell like his had. That's what he thought at least, that he was a monster and for the life of him he couldn't understand why anyone would willing want this type of life. Granted he refused to give up Bella for any reason but still, he'd rather see her die of old age after having lived a happy and healthy life than to turn her into a monster like himself. It was this thought that made him sulk, that made him seem so quiet today. If he were honest with himself, it was an everyday thought. Those moments when he couldn't be near his Bella seemed to be filled with the duality of his life. The joyful thoughts of what it would be like to have her by his side forever, and the tortured thoughts of what he would be doing to her.

Treaties be damned, he loved Bella but he couldn't seem to impart upon the significance of what she was asking. Edward wondered for a moment if she would ever understand how he felt. Granted a part of him understood that know one knew just how he felt. There were few of his kind that hated what they were, most actually enjoyed it. Maybe it was part of his brain trying to wish the pain of the change away, trying to silently tell his girl that he loved her too much to put her through that pain. Regardless of what it was, Edward was in a dilemma.

For one moment he felt happy to know that the only person in the world who could make him whole was in his life and her name escaped his lips "Bella". It was spoken softly, a whisper, almost a caress as if he was afraid she would dissipate at the mere mention of her name. Like a statue, Edward sat staring out of the window of his room, watching the world around him change with each passing minute.
